The high-altitude ski base of Cimbulak. Resorts of Kazakhstan
Almaty is considered one of the most mountainous megacities in the world. Its features include the "Cimbulak" ski complex, located at an altitude of 2,260 m.
Very few mountain resorts in the world can boast of such a height. However, for Almaty residents, mountains are a familiar part of their daily life. They have the rare privilege of living in a big city and enjoying holidays in the big mountains.
The average annual temperature is +20°C in summer and -7°C in winter. The thickness of the snow cover is 1.5 -1.8 meters, 90% of sunny days.
The ski season starts in mid-November until the beginning of April. The combination of a mountain road and a variety of entertainment facilities allows the ski base to be one of the most favorite places to visit.
There is one of the best ski resorts in the CIS in the Cimbulak tract, which includes four lifts, and the height difference reaches 943 m. Last season, the installation of snow cannons was completed here, which will significantly extend the season. But Cimbulac is known not only for its ski trails. This is the place where the most high-altitude Bardic festivals take place - winter "Snowboard" and summer "Zimbulak", which gather famous performers of the author's song from several countries. High-altitude hiking and climbing begin from here. In addition, cable cars operating even in summer allow everyone to take an excursion to the Talgar pass (3163 m), which offers a stunning panorama of the southern capital.
The length of the downhill, originating in the Talgar pass, is 3,500 meters. The length of the slalom descent is 1500 m.
The ski slopes are serviced by two pair-chairlift, single-chairlift and towline cable cars, as well as a free tow lift. Since 2003, a 4-seater road has been put into operation, which has opened a new region for fans of extreme skiing. These roads rise from an altitude of 2200 m above sea level to the Talgar pass (N-3 168). The total length of the trails is 3620 m., the height difference is up to 1000 m. The steepness of the slopes is up to 29 degrees.
4 stages of chairlift roads:
